Man, 31, Injured in Antelope Crash on Walerga Road Near Town Center
ANTELOPE, CA (July 18, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and injured another near Walerga Road and Town Center Way in Antelope.
According to The Sacramento Bee and CBS Sacramento, the tragic accident took place last week on Friday night. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 11 p.m.
The incident happened on July 15 when a white 1999 Chevrolet Corvette was going south on Walerga Road near Town Center Avenue in Antelope. At the same time, a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling north.
The Corvette then drove over a center divider and into oncoming northbound traffic. In the process, the two collided head-on.
Drunk Driver, 68, Killed in Wreck
The driver of the Corvette, a 68-year-old Roseville man, ended up ejected from his car upon impact. He died as a result of the collision.
The California Highway Patrol said the 31-year-old Roseville man driving the Malibu survived the incident with minor injuries. Paramedics soon rushed him to a hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, officers determined that the older motorist was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck.
CHP forced the area of Walerga and Town Center to shut down for hours following the accident. The fatal Antelope crash is still under investigation.
