Passenger Dies in Collision Near Interstate 5
Bakersfield, CA (September 9, 2022) – Maria Guadalupe Escobedo, a 53-year-old Lamont woman, suffered fatal injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on Copus Road.
The KGET News reported a 2004 Ford collided with a semi truck in the westbound side of Copus Road. Officials said the horrible crash took place approximately one mile west of Interstate 5 Freeway. According to the article published online, the driver of the Ford attempted to pass a big rig on Copus Road. When the Ford tried to merge back into the westbound side of the road, the driver lost control of the car. Our sources indicated the vehicle ran off the road and flipped over.
Shortly after 6:48 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered aid to all parties involved in the wreck. Medical personnel sadly pronounced the passenger in the Ford dead. The California Highway Patrol group identified the fatal victim as Maria Guadalupe Escobedo.
Several factors surrounding the incident remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the fatal crash that happened on Copus Road in Bakersfield.
