Kimberly Newell, 43, Injured in Lancaster Crash at Avenue J and 140th Street East
LANCASTER, CA (October 7, 2022) – A fatal crash left Kimberly Newell injured at Avenue J and 140th Street East in Lancaster.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 43-year-old Helendale woman as the victim of the wreck which took place on Friday.
The incident happened when Kimberly Newell was driving a 2010 Nissan south on 140th Street East in Lancaster. She then came to a complete stop at Avenue J.
At the same time, a 2004 Chevrolet was going west on Avenue J. For an unknown reason, the Chevrolet failed to yield the right-of-way, entered the intersection and went into the path of the Nissan.
1 Killed in Wreck
CHP said the Chevrolet slammed into the Nissan and veered to the left. The older car rolled over multiple times on the eastbound shoulder of Avenue J due to the impact of the collision.
The Antelope Valley Times wrote that the accident occurred at around 7:05 a.m. Kimberly Newell sustained minor injuries, including a swollen forehead, as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 31-year-old Apple Valley man, died at the scene. One of his passengers, 19-year-old Juan Rocha-Ureno, survived the incident with major injuries.
Paramedics rushed the Apple Valley man to a hospital for treatment. The third occupant of the Chevrolet, 24-year-old Apple Valley resident Salvador Garcia Jr., ended up unharmed.
