Steven Mon, 52, Badly Injured in Santa Ynez Crash on Highway 154
SANTA YNEZ, CA (October 9, 2022) – Steven Mon was badly injured after a fatal crash on Highway 154 in the Santa Ynez Valley.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 52-year-old Anaheim man as one of the victims in the wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Steven Mon was driving a Toyota Highlander east on Highway 154 in the Santa Ynez Valley. A Ford CMAX was traveling in the same direction at the time.
CHP said the Ford then veered into the opposing lane to avoid stopped traffic ahead. In the process, the car slammed head-on into a BMW X5 going west.
1 Killed in Wreck
The BMW rolled over due to the impact of the collision. The CMAX continued eastbound and struck the Toyota near Meadowvale Road and more than a mile north of the Highway 246 roundabout.
The Noozhawk News and KSBY News wrote that the accident occurred at about 10:25 a.m. Steven Mon two of his passengers sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash.
Paramedics rushed them to the Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria. The driver of the BMW survived the incident with minor injuries.
CHP confirmed that the motorist in the Ford died at the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, the cause of the Santa Ynez crash is still under investigation.
