Sacramento Driver Killed in I-5 Crash; Passenger Injured
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Edwin Kristofer Medina Padilla, 26, of Sacramento, died and his passenger suffered injuries in a crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway, near the I-80 Freeway and Natomas.
Additionally, the collision occurred about 5:54 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The young man, identified by the Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner, was traveling northbound on the freeway. For unknown reasons he lost control and crashed the vehicle.

Edwin Medina Padilla suffered major injuries and died at the scene. However, a young woman in her early twenties riding as a passenger in the vehicle survived with unknown injuries.
Paramedics transported her to a local hospital according to the CHP report.
The CHP is heading up an investigation into the cause of the crash.
