Pedestrian Killed in Ceres Crash on Service Road Near Esmar Road
CERES, CA (October 30, 2022) – A crash killed a pedestrian on Service Road near Esmar Road in Ceres.
According to an article published by The Modesto Bee, the tragic accident took place on Friday night. Officers reported the collision shortly after 7 p.m.
The incident happened on October 28 when a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck was going west on Service Road, west of Esmar Road, in Ceres.
The California Highway Patrol said for an unknown reason, the car struck a male pedestrian in the Ceres roadway. Firefighters arrived at the scene and then found him down on the ground.
Man, 23, Hit by Car
The 23-year-old Oakland man sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. Paramedics rushed him to the Doctors Medical Center, where he soon died.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup told CHP that he failed to avoid hitting the man.
The motorist, Ripon resident Ricky Nail Jr., stopped and stayed at the site following the collision. Officers forced a stretch of Service Road to shut down for a time after the incident.
The cause of the Ceres pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
