Kimberly Snyder, 30, ID’d as Suspect in Jackson Fatal DUI Crash
JACKSON, CA (February 1, 2023) – Authorities detained Kimberly Snyder after a fatal DUI crash on Highway 88 in Jackson.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 30-year-old Modesto woman was under the influence when the wreck took place on Monday.
The incident began when Kimberly Snyder was driving a 2022 Jeep Compass at about 50 mph west on Highway 88 in Jackson. At the same time, a 2010 Subaru Outback was going east.
CHP said she then crossed over the painted double yellow lines and entered the eastbound lane. In the process, her car slammed head-on into the Subaru.
The two cars crashed just west of Ousby Road. Both obtained major front-end damage and the Outback caught fire due to the impact of the collision.
Man Killed, Boy Seriously Injured in Wreck
The Ledger Dispatch wrote that the accident occurred on January 30 shortly before 2 p.m. Kimberly Snyder sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash.
Paramedics rushed her to the UC Davis Medical Center. A passenger in the Jeep, a 10-year-old boy not wearing his seatbelt properly, survived the incident with serious life-threatening injuries.
An air ambulance flew the child to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Subaru, a 67-year-old Pioneer man, ended up airlifted to Sutter Roseville Hospital, where he died.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP soon arrested Kimberly Snyder for DUI.
Police forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 88 to shut down for a time following the wreck. The Jackson DUI crash is still under investigation.
