DUI Driver Alex Moreno, 32, Crashes Into San Jose Outdoor Dining Area

SAN JOSE, CA (June 12, 2021) – Authorities detained DUI driver Alex Moreno after he crashed into a San Jose outdoor dining area.

Police determined that the 32-year-old San Jose man was under the influence when the fatal collision occurred on Friday night.

The incident began when Alex Moreno was sitting in a white Chevrolet Silverado parked outside the Agave Sports Bar and Grill in San Jose.

He put the car in reverse and backed up at a high speed. Police said the pickup truck then plowed into the bar at 544 West Alma Avenue.

East Bay Times and KRON 4 News wrote that the Chevrolet ultimately struck three people sitting at an outdoor table. The wreck took place on June 11 shortly after 9 p.m.

Paramedics rushed all three diners, a woman and two men, to the hospital, where the female victim died. The men sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of  the collision.

The names of the deceased and wounded parties remain unreleased. Meanwhile, police soon arrested Alex Moreno for felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.

They booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail. The woman riding in the Silverado at the time ended up unharmed following the collision.

The fatal San Jose DUI crash is still under investigation.
