Passenger Injured in DUI Collision at East Gerard Avenue and Buckner Road Sunday
Merced, CA (October 4, 2021) – Police arrested 18-year-old Alizha Cooksey in relation with a hit-and-run DUI car crash that occurred in the area of East Gerard Avenue and Buckner Road.
According to Merced Sun-Star, Alizha Cooksey was driving in the streets of Merced Sunday evening. Our sources indicated the teenager crashed his blue Chrysler 300 into a parked car and electrical box. The collision took place at the intersection of East Gerard Avenue and Buckner Road.
The car accident took place at about 11:53 p.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed Alizha Cooksey, and three passengers abandoned the Chrysler and fled the scene. However, officers reportedly located one passenger nearby. The injured passenger was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of a minor head injury.
Meanwhile, authorities eventually located Alizha Cooksey. Police arrested the teenager at his home in the 400 block of East San Pedro Street a few hours later.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
