1 Killed, 1 Injured in Rollover Crash on I-580 Freeway Saturday
Livermore, CA (April 24, 2021) – One person died, and another suffered injuries following a car accident on Interstate 580 in Altamont Pass Saturday morning.
The Mercury News reported a minivan plowed through a guardrail along the westbound side of 580 Freeway. Per article published online, the crash took place near North Flynn exit.
Responding medical personnel found the vehicle approximately 100 feet down an embankment.
Passenger Dead in Livermore Car Accident, April 24
Shortly after the incident, emergency teams arrived at the site and evaluated the condition of the two parties found involved in the wreck. Our sources indicated the passenger was ejected during the collision, and sustained serious injuries. A helicopter arrived at the site and airlifted the injured passenger to Medical Center in Castro Valley.
Authorities later confirmed the patient sadly succumbed to their injuries and died at the hospital. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the name of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Meanwhile, officials mentioned the driver survived the unfortunate event and received treatment at the same hospital.
Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate several factors surrounding the deadly car accident in Altamont Pass.
