Amanda Irving ID’d as Suspect in Desert Hot Springs Fatal DUI Crash

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (February 24, 2022) – Authorities detained Amanda Irving after a fatal DUI crash in Desert Hot Springs.

Police determined that the woman was under the influence of drugs when she killed a pedestrian on Wednesday night.

The incident began when Amanda Irving was driving east on Hacienda Avenue near Maui Way in Desert Hot Springs. At the same time, the victim was walking in the area.

Police said Amanda Irving did not see the 76-year-old man in the roadway and then hit him. The Desert Sun and KESQ News wrote that the accident took place on February 23 at about 10:40 p.m.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the pedestrian lying in the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, police soon arrested Amanda Irving on suspicion of DUI causing great bodily injury. They booked her into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
