Anthony Espinosa, 31, Kills Pedestrian in Folsom Park DUI Crash
FOLSOM, CA (September 4, 2021) – Authorities detained Anthony Espinosa after DUI crash that killed a pedestrian in a Folsom park.
Police identified the 31-year-old Grass Valley man was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred last month. The collision took place on August 18 at about 8:22 p.m.
The incident began when Anthony Michael Espinosa ran a stop sign at the intersection of Oak Avenue Parkway and Willow Creek Drive in Folsom.
Police said he drove forward and entered the disc golf area of BT Collins Park where he struck a male pedestrian. The victim, a 65-year-old Folsom man, was walking with his dog at the time.

The pedestrian ended up lying unresponsive on the ground and suffering from obvious signs of trauma as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed him to a local area hospital, where he died.
The name of the deceased man remains unreleased pending notification of family. The Golden Country Media wrote that the dog sustained injuries following the incident.
Meanwhile, police added that the vehicle came to a rest after hitting a pole in the area. Officers soon arrested Anthony Espinosa on suspicion of felony DUI causing great bodily injury.
They also charged him with DUI with a blood alcohol level over .08 with great bodily injury, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Records showed that the suspect remains in the Sacramento County Jail without bail. The Folsom park DUI crash is still under investigation.
