Antonio Gonzalez, 43, Injured in Madera County Head-On Crash on Avenue 7 1/2
MADERA COUNTY, CA (March 28, 2022) – A fatal head-on crash left Antonio Gonzalez injured on Avenue 7 1/2 in Madera County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 43-year-old Fresno man as the victim of the wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Antonio Gonzalez was driving a 2010 Toyota Sequoia east on Avenue 7 1/2 in Madera County. At the same time, a Nissan Frontier was going west.
CHP said for an unknown reason, the Nissan drifted into the opposite lane. A 2021 Toyota Venza headed east veered out of the way but the Frontier sideswiped it, in the process.
Man, 89, Killed in Wreck
The Nissan then slammed into the Sequoia head-on, west of Firebaugh Boulevard. The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News wrote that the accident occurred on March 27 shortly after 7 p.m.
Antonio Gonzalez sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics took him to the to Madera Community Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Frontier, an 89-year-old Firebaugh man, died at the scene. The motorist in the Venza, 43-year-old Lemoore resident Jael Louise Cook, did not sustain any wound following the wreck.
The cause of the Madera County crash is still under investigation.
