1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Atascadero Crash on Highway 41 and Old Morro
ATASCADERO, CA (October 8, 2022) – A crash killed one person and seriously injured another on Highway 41 and Old Morro Road in Atascadero.
According to The Tribune and KSBY News, the tragic accident took place late Saturday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 11:36 a.m.
The incident happened when a vehicle was going west on Highway 41 near Old Morro Road East in Atascadero. For an unknown reason, its driver crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic.
Police said in the process, the car slammed head-on into another vehicle traveling east.
Multiple Vehicles Involved in Wreck
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the motorist who caused the collision dead. The driver of the eastbound car sustained major injuries as a result of the wreck.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, a third motorist veered off the road to avoid the first accident, spun out of control and then hit a telephone pole. The cause of the fatal Atascadero crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced a stretch of Highway 41 to shut down near Old Morro following the incident. Anyone with information can call the police at 805-461-5051.
