Austin McClusky, 23, ID’d as Suspect in Lake Elsinore Fatal DUI Crash
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (January 31, 2022) – Authorities arrested Austin McClusky after a DUI crash that killed one person in Lake Elsinore.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department determined that the 23-year-old Escondido man was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred.
The incident began when Austin McClusky was driving at a high rate of speed south on Summerhill Drive near Corte Seriui in Lake Elsinore.
Austin McClusky then lost control of the vehicle and struck a cement light pole. The car overturned and ended up on its roof in a drainage ditch on the right side of Summerhill.
Julian Munoz, 24, Killed in Wreck
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and freed Austin McClusky and his passenger from the wreckage. The victim, 24-year-old Murrieta resident Julian Munoz, died at the scene.
Medical personnel took Austin McClusky to a hospital for treatment of minor wounds. The Press Enterprise wrote that the accident took place last week on Friday, January 28, at around 10:33 p.m.
Meanwhile, officers arrested and booked Austin McClusky on felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter charges. The Lake Elsinore DUI crash is still under investigation.
