Vehicle Strikes, Kills Pedestrian Near Westside Freeway Sunday
Bakersfield, CA (March 6, 2022) – A deadly pedestrian accident occurred on State Route 166, also known as Maricopa Highway, early Sunday morning.
The California Highway Patrol group reported a vehicle struck an individual on the highway in Bakersfield. Officials said the collision took place near Westside Freeway at about 2:35 a.m.
When emergency crews arrived at the site, they found a man lying in the roadway. Officials also located the car involved in the crash–a silver Kia Optima.

Responding paramedics immediately rendered aid to the pedestrian. Despite life-saving measures performed by medical personnel, the victim sadly succumbed to their injuries and died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver of the silver Kia Optima appeared unharmed after the crash.
Detectives stayed at the scene the whole morning to investigate the precise circumstances that led up to the unfortunate event on State Route 166 in Bakersfield.
