Man Killed in Bakersfield Crash on White Lane Near Dovewood Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 9, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and injured another on White Lane in the city of Bakersfield.
According to an article published by the Kern Golden Empire, the tragic accident took place late Wednesday night. Officers reported the wreck at around 10:50 p.m.
The incident began when an SUV was going east on White Lane near Dovewood Street in Bakersfield. Police said the car then tried to make a left turn.
In the process, the SUV slammed into a 2-door-coupe. The coupe went off the road and hit a gas main which caused a brief gas leak.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the man driving the coupe dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Medical personnel took the the driver of the SUV to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police affirmed that she was under the influence when she hit the other car.
They soon arrested the woman on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Officers forced a stretch of White Lane to shut down for hours following the wreck.
