Pedestrian Killed in Bakersfield Crash on Pacheco Road Friday
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 1, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed after a crash on Pacheco Road in Bakersfield on New Year’s Eve.
According to the Bakersfield Now and Kern Golden Empire, the tragic accident took place on Friday evening. Officers reported the collision shortly after 6:30 p.m.
Bakersfield police said the incident happened on December 31 when a vehicle struck a male pedestrian in the city. The driver hit him for an unknown reason in the 300 block of Pacheco Road.
Man Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the man who ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon rushed him to a hospital, where he died. The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the man. Officers forced a stretch of Pacheco Road to shut down for a time following the collision.
The cause of the fatal Bakersfield pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
