Pedestrian Killed in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run on Highway 58 Near Cottonwood
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 23, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 58 in Bakersfield.
According to an article published by the Kern Golden Empire, the tragic accident took place early Friday. Officers reported the incident at around 3:49 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said a vehicle struck a male pedestrian in the city of Bakersfield. The driver hit him on westbound Highway 58, just west of the Cottonwood Road off-ramp.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the man left lying on the ground. He sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced him dead at the scene. The name of the deceased victim remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and fled the area. Officers forced the westbound lanes of Highway 58 to shut down following the pedestrian collision.
The fatal Bakersfield hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
