4 Children Injured in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 58 at Chester
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 28, 2021) – Several were injured after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 58 and Chester Avenue in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the wreck took place on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the accident at about 4:45 p.m.
The incident happened when a semi-truck slammed into a car in Bakersfield. The two crashed for an unknown reason on westbound Highway 58 at South Chester Avenue.
Car and Semi-Truck Collide
According to CHP, the car carrying juveniles then rolled over upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Medical personnel found four children hurt as a result of the collision. They treated the young victims for the minor injuries they sustained in the wreck.
The report did not release the condition of the wounded parties at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the tractor-trailer failed to stop to render aid and fled the area.
Officers forced the westbound Highway 58 at Chester Avenue to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the Bakersfield hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
