Scooter Rider Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run at Belle Terrace and Lomita Drive
BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 14, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash seriously injured a scooter rider at Belle Terrace and Lomita Drive in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident took place on Monday. Officers reported the collision at about 7:43 p.m.
The incident happened when a vehicle struck the rider of an electric scooter in Bakersfield. For an unknown reason, the driver hit the person at the intersection of East Belle Terrace and Lomita Drive.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene in the Casa Loma area. They found the victim who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel first took the patient to Mercy Hospital Downtown. They then transferred the wounded party to Kern Medical for treatment of major trauma.
The report did not disclose the name of the rider and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to and fled the area.
Officers forced the corner of Belle Terrace and Lomita Drive to shut down following the collision. The cause of the Bakersfield hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
