1 Killed, 1 Injured in Barstow Crash on Interstate 40 at East Main Street
BARSTOW, CA (May 28, 2023) – A crash killed at least one person and injured another on the Interstate 40 and East Main Street in Barstow.
The California Highway Patrol first logged the tragic accident early Sunday morning. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck on May 28 at about 4:17 a.m.
The incident happened when two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Barstow. The cars crashed on the westbound Interstate 40 at East Main Street.
2 Vehicles Collide
CHP said at least one vehicle caught fire upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and confirmed that one individual died.
At least one other patient ended up hurt as a result of the collision. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, officers forced the westbound Interstate 40 at the East Main Street off-ramp to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Barstow crash is still under investigation.
