Boni Sturges, 52, Seriously Injured in Oildale Crash at China Grade and McCray
OILDALE, CA (July 14, 2022) – A fatal crash at China Grade Loop and McCray Street left Boni Sturges seriously injured in Oildale.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 52-year-old Bakersfield woman as one of the drivers in the fatal wreck which took place on Tuesday.
The incident happened when Boni Marie Sturges was driving a Volvo XC90 north on McCray Street, approaching West China Grade Loop, in Oildale.
At the same time, a Chevrolet Silverado was going west on China Grade. CHP said for an unknown reason, the two cars collided in the intersection.
Man, 43, Killed in Wreck
The pickup truck continued traveling southwest and then struck a light pole. The Kern Golden Empire and Bakersfield Californian wrote that the accident occurred on July 12 around 9:38 a.m.
Boni Sturges sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed her to the Kern Medical for treatment.
The driver of the Silverado, a 43-year-old Bakersfield man, ended up ejected from the Chevrolet following the collision. He soon died at the scene.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of China Grade and McCray to shut down for a time after the wreck. The cause of the Oildale crash is still under investigation.
