Man Killed in Boyle Heights Hit-and-Run at Whittier and Esperanza
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 3, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian at Whittier Boulevard and Esperanza Street in Boyle Heights.

According to the CBS Los Angeles and KTLA News, the fatal accident took place late Saturday night. Officers reported the collision on April 2 shortly after 10 p.m.
Police said a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason in a crosswalk. The driver hit him at the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Esperanza Street in the Boyle Heights neighborhood.
Driver Hits Pedestrian, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the man in his 40s or 50s left lying on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and fled the area. They described the car as a Ford Fusion.
Officers forced the corner of Whittier and Esperanza to shut down for a time following the incident. The cause of the Boyle Heights hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
