Braxton Howze Arrested DUI Hit-and-Run Crash Modesto Woodland Avenue

DUI Hit-and-Run Driver Braxton Howze, 22, Kills Pedestrian in Modesto Crash

MODESTO, CA (April 23, 2021) – Authorities detained Braxton Howze after a fatal DUI hit-and-run crash in Modesto.

Police determined that the 22-year-old Modesto man was under the influence of alcohol when he killed a pedestrian. The tragic accident occurred on Thursday night, April 22.

The incident happened when Braxton Howze was driving a Ford Ranger east on Woodland Avenue, west of Graphics Drive, in Modesto.

Police said he then veered out of his lane to the south side of the road and struck a male pedestrian and a parked car. The Modesto Bee wrote that the collision occurred at about 9:16 p.m.

Victim Hit by Car on Woodland Avenue

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene. They found the victim injured and left lying on the ground as a result of the crash.

Medical personnel rushed him to a local hospital, where he died. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, police affirmed that Braxton Howze exited his vehicle and fled on foot. Authorities located and soon arrested him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

They also charged him with DUI causing bodily injury, hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license. The DUI hit-and-run collision is still under investigation.
