1 Killed, 3 Injured in Calexico Crash at Highway 111 and Jasper Road
CALEXICO, CA (November 8, 2021) – A car crash killed one person and injured several others at Highway 111 and Jasper Road in Calexico.
According to the Imperial Valley Press and Calexico Chronicle, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck on November 7 at about 6:20 a.m.
The incident began when a vehicle was traveling at least 55 mph north on Highway 111, approaching Jasper Road, in Calexico.
Its driver, a Nevada resident, then struck the rear of another car stopped for a traffic signal at Jasper. The impact forced the second vehicle into another stopped car in the intersection.
Multiple Cars Collide
Police said the visibility due to dense fog was only about five feet at the time. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
They rushed the motorist in the first car hit to the El Centro Regional, where they died. The Nevada resident, the driver of the third vehicle and another person ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel provided treatment to the three patients for the unknown injuries they sustained in the wreck. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, officers forced the area of Highway 111 and Jasper Road to shut down for hours following the incident. The fatal Calexico crash is still under investigation.
