Woman, 31, Killed in California City Hit-and-Run Near Shaw and Karen
CALIFORNIA CITY, CA (October 15, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian near Shaw Street and Karen Avenue in California City.
The Kern Golden Empire wrote that the fatal incident took place on Thursday evening. Officers reported the collision at around 7:45 p.m.
Police said a vehicle struck a female pedestrian for an unknown reason on October 14. The driver hit her near the intersection of Shaw Street and Karen Avenue in California City.
Driver Hits Pedestrian, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the 31-year-old woman left lying unresponsive on the road. She sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the woman and then fled. They soon arrested and booked the suspect for felony hit-and-run.
Officers forced the area of Shaw and Karen to shut down for a time following the crash. The cause of the California City hit-and-run is still under investigation.
