Girl, 14, Killed in Camino Hit-and-Run Crash on Carson Road
CAMINO, CA (February 8, 2022) – A teenage pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Carson Road in Camino.
According to the CBS Sacramento and KCRA News, the tragic accident took place on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the collision shortly after 4 p.m.
The incident began when a 14-year-old girl was walking along Carson Road, east of Barkley Road, near the town of Camino in El Dorado County.
The California Highway Patrol said for an unknown reason, a vehicle struck her. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the victim left lying on the ground.
Driver Hits Teen, Flees Scene
She ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon pronounced the teen dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the girl and fled westbound on Carson toward Placerville. They described the car as a newer model white Honda CR-V.
The Honda obtained front bumper and windshield damage to the passenger side after hitting the victim. Officers forced a stretch of Carson Road to shut down for a time following the collision.
The cause of the fatal Camino hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
