1 Seriously Injured in Cantua Creek Crash on Interstate 5 Near Derrick
CANTUA CREEK, CA (December 3, 2021) – At least one was seriously injured after a wrong-way crash on the Interstate 5 near Derrick Avenue in Cantua Creek.
The California Highway Patrol first logged the incident on Friday. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 12:49 a.m.
The incident began when a car was traveling the wrong-way on the southbound side of the Interstate 5 in Cantua Creek. CHP said the wrong-way driver then slammed into another vehicle.
Wrong-Way Driver Hits Another Car
The two crashed, just south of the Derrick Avenue on-ramp. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Medical personnel found one person who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. They then took the patient to a hospital for treatment.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP forced the southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 to shut down following the wreck.
The Cantua Creek crash is still under investigation.
