Deputy Injured in Collision Near Bonnyview Road
Redding, CA (December 25, 2022) – A California Highway Patrol officer suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on the Interstate 5 Freeway on August 4.
The Action News Now published an article online reporting a car crash on I-5 near Bonnyview Road. Preliminary investigation revealed the officer was conducting an investigation on a separate car accident. While standing in one of the northbound lanes of the freeway, a passing pickup truck sideswiped the officer. Our sources confirmed the collision resulted in minor injuries to the deputy. The name the injured officer remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck appeared unharmed after the incident. No immediate information was available whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Several factors surrounding the accident remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine liability in the traffic collision that happened on Interstate 5 in Redding.
