Passenger Hospitalized After Collision at Hay and Meridian Road Sunday
Vacaville, CA (January 31, 2022) – Carla Vasquez, a 24-year-old Vacaville woman, suffered injuries following a suspected DUI car crash that occurred in the area of Hay and Meridian Road.
On January 30, Sunday, a Toyota Tundra careened off the paved roadway at the intersection south of Elmira. The Reporter published an article online reporting Vasquez was a passenger in the Tundra traveling at a high-rate of speed on Hay Road. When the Toyota approached the intersection at Meridian, the drier failed to slow down at a stop sign.
Preliminary investigation revealed the Toyota crashed into an irrigation ditch. Due to the force from the impact, the car became airborne and eventually came to a rest flipped on its passenger side inside a ditch.
The catastrophic incident took place at approximately 7:30 p.m.
When emergency crews arrived at the location, they found one passenger dead. Authorities added the driver, and a second passenger both sustained injuries as a result of the wreck. Officials later identified the injured passenger as Carla Vasquez. Per local news source, paramedics transported the patient to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center for treatment of major trauma.
Detectives believed alcohol played a role in the traffic accident. Further investigation on the case is underway.
