1 Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-5 Freeway Sunday
Carlsbad, CA (April 4, 2021) – One person died following a car crash on Interstate 5 Freeway Sunday morning, the ABC10 News reported.
Preliminary investigation revealed the incident began when a 2008 Hyundai Elantra flipped over for an unknown reason in the northbound side of the freeway. The Elantra, driven by a 23-year-old man, ended up crashing into the center divider.
The force from the impact then caused the Elantra spun out and re-enter the roadway. Our sources indicated the driver of the Elantra either got ejected, or exited their vehicle after it came to a stop. The driver ended up on the road, officials said.
Our sources indicated two vehicles traveling north on I-5 Freeway struck the Elentra, and the driver.
Shortly after 4:45 a.m., emergency teams arrived at the site and found the 23-year-old driver unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. Police continue to withhold the name of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
