1 Seriously Injured in Chico Crash at Highway 99 and Esplanade
CHICO, CA (May 7, 2022) – A car crash seriously injured at least one person at Highway 99 and Esplanade in Chico.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Saturday evening. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 5:54 p.m.
The incident happened when for an unknown reason, two vehicles collided in the city of Chico. They crashed on northbound Highway 99 at the intersection with Esplanade.
2 Cars Collide
CHP described the cars as Mazda 6 and a Chrysler PT Cruiser. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and extricated one trapped occupant from the Chrysler.
The patient sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then took the victim to a hospital for treatment.
The name of the wounded party and their condition at this time were not disclosed. Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound lanes of Highway 99 to shut down near Esplanade following the wreck.
The cause of the Chico car crash is still under investigation.
