Pedestrian Injured in Chico Hit-and-Run on Ivy Street Near West 8th Street
CHICO, CA (June 17, 2021) – A pedestrian was injured after a hit-and-run crash on Ivy Street near West 8th Street in Chico.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident took place late Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the incident at about 5:42 p.m.
According to CHP, a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason. The driver hit the person at 547 Ivy Street near the corner of West 6th Street in Chico.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near West 8th Street. They found the victim left in the roadway as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then provided treatment to the patient for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the crash. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the pedestrian and fled the area. They are still searching for the suspect.
Officers forced a portion of Ivy Street to close following the collision. The Chico hit-and-run accident is still under investigation.
