Child, Crossing Guard Victims in Lafayette Pedestrian Crash Near Middle School
LAFAYETTE, CA (September 8, 2021) – A child pedestrian was injured after a fatal crash outside a Lafayette middle school.
According to the East Bay Times and CBS San Francisco, the accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. Officers reported the collision shortly after 3:45 p.m.
The incident happened when an SUV struck a male crossing guard and the child pedestrian for an unknown reason in Lafayette. The vehicle hit them outside of the Stanley Middle School.
Deputies said the guard became pinned underneath the car as a result of the crash. The area is located near the intersection of School Street and Paradise Court.
Juvenile and Man Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and freed the man from the SUV. They took him to a hospital where he later died.
The child sustained minor injuries as a result of the Lafayette collision. Medical personnel rushed the young victim, a student at Stanley, to a hospital as a precaution.
Meanwhile, officers affirmed that the driver stayed at the site after hitting the victims and cooperated with the authorities. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
