Deadly, Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 152 Amid Heavy Fog
MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2021) — Sarai Baldovinos, 28, is identified as victim of fatal Chowchilla crash on Highway 152 (Avenue 23) happened on Friday near Road 9 in Madera County.
The deadly, multi-vehicle collision took place about 8:37 a.m. on Dec. 3rd amid heavy fog in the area, according to the California Highway Patrol. The initial crash involved a semi-truck and a white sedan at 8:37 a.m. and involved a fatality. Visibility in the area was roughly 50 to 100 feet, the report said.
CHP officials requested the coroner at 8:55 a.m. due to one fatality.
By 9:06 a.m., a paramedics reported to CHP dispatch that “Vehicles keep hitting each other.” At least six vehicles including the truck, a white Toyota RAV 4, a white Chevrolet pickup truck and a silver Nissan Altima were involved in a serious of collisions, the CHP reported.
Caltrans eventually closed down Highway 152 on the westbound transition from Highway 99 as well as for eastbound traffic on Highway 59. Six tow trucks responded to remove the cars and the semi-truck from the Chowchilla crash scene on Highway 152.
Sadly, police confirmed Sarai Baldovinos died after her car collided with a semi-truck crossing the highway. Several other vehicles subsequently hit her vehicle.
However, it’s unknown how many other people were hurt in subsequent collisions.
