CHP Officer Injured in Lexington Hills Crash on Highway 17 Near Redwood Estates

LEXINGTON HILLS, CA (November 8, 2022) – A California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer was hospitalized after a crash on Highway 17 near Redwood Estates.

According to the KRON 4 News and CBS San Francisco, the accident took place on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the collision at around 12:30 p.m. in Lexington Hills.

The incident began when a San Jose area CHP officer was clearing a crash in the northbound lanes of Highway 17, north of Redwood Estates.

Victim Hit by Car

An older model Lexus going north at the time spun out of control for an unknown reason. The car veered off the road and struck the officer and the patrol vehicle.

Paramedics arrived and found the CHP officer who sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the Lexus, a 39-year-old Salinas woman, complained of pain.

Medical personnel rushed both patients to the hospital for treatment. The report did not release the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.

Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound side of Highway 17 to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the Redwood Estate crash is still under investigation.
