Christina Hawley, 43, Seriously Injured in Merced County Crash on Highway 140
MERCED COUNTY, CA (April 11, 2022) – A car crash seriously injured Christina Hawley at Highway 140 and Cunningham Road in Merced County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 43-year-old Walnut Creek woman as the victim of the wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Christina Hawley was driving a 2018 Audi sedan west on Highway 140, approaching North Cunningham Road, in Merced County.
At the same time, a 2016 Volkswagen sedan was going north on Cunningham. The driver of the Volkswagen, Bryan Gonzalez Alvarez, failed to stop at a posted stop sign.
Driver Runs Stop Sign, Hits Another Car
The 23-year-old North Hills man continued into the intersection where he slammed into the Audi. CHP said the Audi rolled over due to the impact of the collision.
Both Christina Hawley and Bryan Gonzalez Alvarez sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. An air ambulance took them to Modesto-area hospitals for treatment.
The Merced Sun Star wrote that the accident occurred on April 10 at about 11:55 a.m., northeast of Planada. The cause of the Merced County crash is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of Highway 140 and Cunningham Road to shut down for a time following the wreck,
