Christopher Dixon, 35, Killed in Adelanto Crash at Highway 395 and Auburn Avenue
ADELANTO, CA (September 19, 2022) – Christopher Dixon was killed after a car crash at Highway 395 and Auburn Avenue in Adelanto.
The coroner’s office identified the 35-year-old Adelanto man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Christopher Dixon stopped his 1995 Chevrolet Caprice in the northbound lane of Highway 395 in Adelanto. He was waiting to make a left-hand turn onto Auburn Avenue.
At the same time, a 2015 Toyota Tundra was going north and a 2020 Dodge Durango was traveling south on the highway. The Toyota approached and slammed into the rear of the Chevrolet.
Deputies said the impact then forced the Caprice into the southbound lane. In the process, the Dodge broadsided the Chevrolet in the intersection.
Distracted Driver Hits Another Car
The Caprice rolled over as a result of the collision. The Victor Valley News wrote that the accident occurred on September 18 at about 6:11 p.m.
Christopher Dixon died at the scene of the crash. The occupants of the Durango sustained minor to moderate injuries following the wreck.
The driver of the Tundra, 49-year-old David Gillis, ended up unharmed. Deputies believed that the Georgia man was distracted at the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, officers forced Highway 395 to shut down in both directions between El Mirage and Chamberlaine roads for several hours after the accident.
