Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in City Heights Crash on University Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 9, 2022) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on University Avenue in the City Heights neighborhood.
According to an article published by The San Diego Union-Tribune, the accident took place on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at around 3:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a 50-year-old man was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle east on University Avenue, east of Euclid Avenue, in City Heights.
At the same time, a Buick LaCrosse was traveling on 50th Street. San Diego police said the car then made a right turn onto University directly into the path of the rider.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
In the process, the motorcyclist collided with the back quarter panel of the Buick. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
The victim sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment of a fractured left femur, dislocated left shoulder and fractured ribs.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, police added that the 67-year-old woman driving the car ended up unharmed.
Officers forced the area of University Avenue and 50th Street to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the City Heights crash is still under investigation.
