Cody Serrato, 31, Badly Injured in Los Alamos Crash on Highway 101
LOS ALAMOS, CA (March 9, 2022) – A DUI wrong-way crash left Cody Serrato badly injured on Highway 101 in Los Alamos.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 31-year-old Squaw Valley man as one of the victims in the collision on Tuesday.
The incident began when Cody Serrato was riding as a passenger in a 2018 Freightliner truck traveling south on northbound Highway 101 in Los Alamos.
CHP said multiple accidents then almost took place south of Alisos Canyon Road. After some time, two vehicles trying to avoid the semi-truck crashed in the area.
Semi-Truck Hits Car Head-On
The Freightliner continued going the wrong-way and struck a 2015 Toyota Tundra head-on. The Santa Maria Times and Noozhawk News wrote that the crashes occurred on March 8 at about 7:40 p.m.
Cody Serrato and the wrong-way driver sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics took them to the Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Firefighters extricated the motorist in the Toyota from the wreckage. An air ambulance rushed the patient to a hospital with major injuries.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the suspect was under the influence when he caused the collisions. They soon arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
The Los Alamos DUI wrong-way crash is still under investigation.
