2 Drivers Injured in Collision Near Old Downieville Highway
Nevada City, CA (July 21, 2022) – Police arrested 40-year-old Cole Hatfield Paulson following a car accident that occurred on Highway 49.
According to The Union News, Paulson was driving a 2005 Honda Pilot heading north on SR-29. In the area near Old Downieville Highway, Paulson reportedly allowed the car to leave the right side of the roadway. Subsequently, Paulson overcorrected to the left and ended up crossing the center double yellow lines. The Honda sideswiped 1995 Ford F150.
Our sources indicated the collision took place Tuesday at about 9:50 a.m.
When rescue teams arrived at the crash site, they found the drivers of the Honda and Ford both suffering in injuries. Paramedics transported the two patients to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Preliminary investigation revealed Cole Hatfield Paulson was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Given that, police arrested the suspect on felony DUI charges.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
