2 Injured in Contra Costa County Crash on Interstate 680 Near Pacheco Boulevard
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (August 18, 2022) – A crash injured two people on the Interstate 680 near Pacheco Boulevard in Contra Costa County.
According to the KRON 4 News and CBS San Francisco, the accident took place on Wednesday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 7:45 a.m. in the area of Pacheco.
The incident happened on August 17 when a big rig and four other vehicles collided for an unknown reason near Martinez in Contra Costa County.
The California Highway Patrol said they crashed on the southbound Interstate Highway 680, just north of Pacheco Boulevard. The semi-truck hit the concrete center divide in the process.
Big Rig Jackknifed in Wreck
The trailers ended up jackknifed as a result of the collision. The impact damaged the fuel tank of the big rig and a small amount of diesel fuel then spilled on the road.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They provided aid to two patients who sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time were not disclosed. Meanwhile, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
CHP forced the southbound lanes of the Interstate 680 to shut down for several hours near Pacheco Boulevard following the wreck.
