1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Contra Costa County Crash on Sellers Avenue
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (June 16, 2021) – A crash killed one person and seriously injured two others on Sellers Avenue in Contra Costa County.
According to the East Bay Times and KRON 4 News, the tragic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 5:35 p.m.
The incident happened when a white 2015 Acura TLX was going south on Sellers Avenue near Oakley in Contra Costa County. At the same time, a blue 2003 Ford F-150 was traveling north.
For an unknown reason, the sedan crossed the solid double yellow lines and into the northbound lane. The California Highway Patrol said in the process, the Acura slammed head-on into the pickup truck.
Teen Driver Hits Another Car Head-On Near Oakley
The two cars crashed, just south of Delta Road. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the 16-year-old Brentwood boy driving the sedan dead at the scene.
His passenger, a 15-year-old boy, sustained life-threatening injuries upon impact. The motorist in the Ford, a 19-year-old Discovery Bay man, ended up with a serious injury as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed both patients to the John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek for treatment. The younger victim was airlifted while the older was taken by a ground ambulance.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced a portion of Sellers Avenue to shut down following the Contra Costa County wreck.
