David Coates, 35, Killed in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 58
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 6, 2021) – David Coates was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 58 in the city of Bakersfield.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the 35-year-old man as the victim of the collision which took place last month.
The incident happened on July 23 when a vehicle hit David Allan Coates on the westbound side of Highway 58 in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol said the driver struck him just west of the Cottonwood Road off-ramp.
Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the site and then found the pedestrian down on the ground as a result of the collision. David Coates died at the scene of the Bakersfield crash.
The Kern Golden Empire wrote that the accident occurred at around 3:49 a.m. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to help the man and soon fled the area.
Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect who fatally injured David Coates. The cause of the fatal Bakersfield crash is still under investigation.
