David Edmundson, 62, Injured in Nipomo Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 101
NIPOMO, CA (September 2, 2021) – David Edmundson was injured after a semi-truck accident on Highway 101 in Nipomo.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 62-year-old Arroyo Grande man as the driver of the truck in the wreck which occurred on Wednesday.
The incident began when David Edmundson was driving a 2014 Peterbilt semi-truck north on Highway 101 in Nipomo. He was towing a lowboy trailer loaded with an excavator at the time.
For an unknown reason, the right front tire of the truck blew out. David Edmundson lost control of the vehicle and drove off the east side of the road.
Excavator Falls Onto Car, Kills Woman Inside
In the process, the excavator became dislodged and went over the side. The heavy equipment soon fell down on top of a 2008 Cadillac Escalade.
CHP said the Cadillac and a 2016 Mazda were stopped on the northbound Willow Road off-ramp. The driver of the Escalade died as a result of the incident.
The Santa Maria Times and KEYT News wrote that the collision took place on September 1 at about 4:10 p.m. David Edmundson sustained minor injuries following the Nipomo truck crash.
Meanwhile, CHP added that debris from the impact hit the Mazda. The motorist in that car did not sustain any wound following the incident.
