Rider Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision Near Vandenberg Space Force Base
Santa Barbara County, CA (July 28, 2022) – A motorcyclist died following a traffic crash that occurred on Highway 1 Thursday, the Lompoc Record News reported.
Our sources indicated multiple vehicles collided on SR-1 near Vandenberg Space Force Base. Our sources indicated the wreck involved a GMC Yukon; a Lincoln Navigator; a Jeep Cherokee; a Subaru Legacy; and a Aprilia Tuono motorcycle. For reasons still unclear, the motorists crashed into each other on the highway in Santa Barbara County.
Shortly after 7:49 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Emergency crews found motorcyclist approximately 40 feet over the side of the road. Responding paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim, but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The identity of he deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
At Least 1 Hospitalized After Crash on Highway 1
Authorities added the driver of the GMC Yukon, 21-year-old Natalia Mesa, sustained injuries in the collision. An ambulance transported the patient to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate exactly how and why the fatal crash happened on Highway 1 in Santa Barbara County.
