Woman, 54, Killed in Collision Near Valley Way Tuesday
Jurupa Valley, CA (February 2, 2022) – Deadra Hughes, a 54-year-old woman, died following a traffic accident that occurred on Pomona (60) Freeway Tuesday.
The Orange County Register News reported Hughes was driving a Nissan Rogue heading east on the freeway. When the motorist approached the area near Valley Way, she slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer.
Officials mentioned the UPS big rig was going 55 to 60 mph when the incident happened. Due to the force from the impact, the Nissan veered across all traffic lanes and hit the median wall. First responders found the car disabled in the HOV lane of the freeway.
Shortly after 9:40 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered aid to all parties involved in the wreck. According to the article published online, Deadra Hughes sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. An ambulance rushed the patient to Riverside Community Hospital, where she died a half-hour later.
The driver of the truck appeared unharmed after the incident.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
