Motorcyclist, 71, Killed in Crash with Pedestrian, 17, on North Street
CORNING, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2022) – Motorcycle rider, Dennis Wayne Nickell, 71, of Corning, died Saturday morning after hitting a teenage pedestrian crossing North Street in Corning.
The deadly crash occurred about 11:32 a.m. on Sept. 17th, according to Action News Now.
The eastbound motorcycle rider reported struck the 17-year-old boy as they crossed in the 600 block of North Street outside of a marked crosswalk. Dennis Nickell suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the teenager also suffered injuries, but he survived the collision. Paramedics transported the teenager to a hospital for treatment of a fractured ankle and a laceration on the left side of his face.
The Corning Police is heading up the investigation into liability. Preliminary findings are that the teen crossed the road in an unsafe manner and the speed of the motorcycle contributed to the wreck.
Finally, the crash remains under investigation.
