Destiny Fierros Kills Pedestrian in Oceanside Crash at El Camino Real and Camino Town
OCEANSIDE, CA (August 7, 2021) – Authorities detained Destiny Fierros after a crash that killed a pedestrian in Oceanside.
Police identified the woman as the suspect in the fatal collision which occurred at El Camino Real and Camino Town on Friday.
The incident happened on August 5 when Destiny Fierros was driving north on El Camino Real in Oceanside. For an unknown reason, she ran the red light at the intersection with Camino Town.
Oceanside police said Destiny Fierros then struck a male pedestrian. The victim was walking in the crosswalk at the time.
Man, 65, Hit by Car in Crosswalk
The San Diego Union-Tribune and Oside News wrote that the accident took place at about 8:40 p.m., north of State Route 78 at the entrance to the Camino Town & Country shopping center.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the 65-year-old man lying on the ground as a result of the collision. He died at the scene.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that Destiny Fierros stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the pedestrian.
Officers soon arrested her on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter for running the red light. The Oceanside pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
